MINOR/MAJOR SOFTBALL - North King County Little League's Minor/ Major Softball program is for girls who are League Age 9 through 12.
Players play by Little League Official Regulation Rules established for this level of play. Minor/ Major Softball is the player's first introduction to a more competitive level of play. Tryouts are required. Teams are drafted by managers following a draft system established by Little League. Games may be up to 6 innings long. Regulation softballs are used. The fastpitch windmill delivery is encouraged for the pitching technique. Players will play 16 - 18 games per season with practices interspersed. This involves a commitment of at least 3 sessions per week. Due to the limited number of teams throughout our District, NKCLL softball teams play "interleague" games with Richmond, North Kenmore, Kenmore, North Bothell and Bothell Little Leagues. NKCLL's Softball Program is governed by Washington District 8 Intercouncil. In the interest of fair and equitable competition, specific rules are implemented by the Intercouncil. These supplemental rules will be shared with each team prior to the start of the season. Minor/ Major League double-elimination end-of-season tournament games are held beginning the first week in June. Players receive a hat to keep and a uniform to use during the season. Players also have the opportunity to apply, tryout and be voted by their peers to play on one of the League's All Star Tournament teams that will play in one of the District 8 Major/Minor League double-elimination tournaments in late June and early July. MINOR LEAGUE players may not return to their same teams next year, but will re-enter the draft to have the opportunity to be drafted to a MAJOR LEAGUE team. Once a player has attained MAJOR LEAGUE status, that player will remain on his/her Major League team until the end of his/her last eligible season. The MINOR/MAJOR LEAGUE fee is $120.00 per player. SPECIAL NOTE: There is a $250.00 maximum per family so if your registration costs exceed that amount, you only need to pay the $250.00.
